Identify and Deal with Mood: We all need to find safe and constructive ways to express our feelings of anger, sadness, joy and fear.
The Public Relations workgroup of the Michigan Association of Community Mental Health Baords (MACMHB) is working hard on the 8th annual Walk A Mile In My Shoes Rally. As you know, the event has been growing every year from just under 500 participants the first year, to over 2,000 last year. Our goal continues to be raising awareness on issues important to the individuals we serve (adults with mentall illness/children with severe emotional disturbance/persons with developmental disabilites) with our state lawmakers.
The Rally will be held Wenesday, May 9, 2012, with activites starting at 12:30 pm and the speaking/"walk" part of the event starting at 1:30 pm. The program will again be entirely composed of individuals with mental illness or developmental disability -- the emcee, keynote, entertainers (poets, musicians, etc.) and the 83 county repredentatives who make a statement about what it is like to live with an illness or disability. We are also expecting to have the Mental Health Bell, from Mental Health America, on display at this year's event.
