Brian Smith

Brian Smith MD is Board-Certified in both Adult and Child Psychiatry and the Director of Medical Student Education for the Department of Psychiatry at Michigan State University (MSU).  After a B.A. in Biology from Cornell University, he received his medical degree from the MSU College of Human Medicine followed by Adult Residency and Child Fellowship at University of North Carolina Hospitals. He teaches for both the colleges of osteopathic and allopathic medicine at MSU as a member of the MSU Department of Psychiatry since 2003 and oversees the nation’s largest Psychiatry clerkship system. Dr. Smith also treats the mental health concerns of child, adolescent, and young adult patients in the Greater Lansing area and children and adolescents for the Montcalm Care Network. NAMI Michigan as an organization has been incredibly supportive of his patients and their families and contributed to the education of thousands of MSU medical students.
