Carlynn D. Nichols

Carlynn Nichols Profile Picture

She brings more than 25 years of experience in community mental health. She received a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology at the University of Michigan, and a Master of Social Work at Wayne State University. As a Licensed Master of Social Work in Macro and Clinical has spent her career in community mental health and has served as an Adjunct Professor at Madonna University and continues to serve as a field instructor the University of Michigan Social of Social Work and Wayne State University School of Social Work. She began her career as a home-based therapist at Southwest Counseling Solutions, and rose to the position of Director of Children, Youth and Families. She subsequently worked as Director of Children’s Initiatives for Detroit Wayne Mental Health Authority (now Detroit Wayne Integrated Health Network). In this role she was responsible for the oversight, management, development, and coordination of services for children and youth with Serious Emotional Disturbance. In this position, she led the development of a comprehensive system of care for children and youth who are involved in multiple systems. In 2014, she joined the executive leadership team of The Children’s Center, where she serves as the Chief Clinical Officer. In this role, she provides oversight to a comprehensive array of behavioral health, child welfare and enrichment services and support for children, youth, and families. Carlynn joined NAMI-MI Board of Directors in the Fall of 2021. Carlynn’s professional goals and personal passion are very much aligned with the goals of NAMI – MI, improving the lives of those with mental illness by assure access to quality care and services.
